DUNK-A-ROOS There used to be nothing better than sitting down to watch SNICK while eating a DUNK-A-ROO. They came in a few flavors, chocolate crackers, or just a plain graham cracker. You could get chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry frosting. I was partial to the Vanilla frosting, with the sprinkles of course. Live in Canada? Your a lucky duckling, you can still get them! This is one snack that everyone had at lunchtime, and one snack that would fly off the shelves if it were brought back!
STRING THING Oh, the string thing..a delicious cross between a fruit roll up, and fruit by the foot. They came in three different flavors, strawberry, cherry and blue raspberry. Each package came with the candy neatly laid in a special design on a piece of cardboard. Sadly, they were taken away from us in the mid 2000’s
POGS. Ok, we are cheating a little bit here...Milk caps, a version of pogs that actually originated between 1920 and 1930 did not become popular to the public until the early 1990’s. The name POG actually came from a brand of juice, and people would use the caps to play this fabulous game. It wasn’t until the 1990’s that it became a commercial thing, where companies would make different designs to collect. Schools actually started banning this game because they considered it a form of gambling, and kids would get so angry when friends won their POGS that fights would actually break out over them. Those rebels.
OVERALLS The most comfortable item of clothing ever created. Yes overalls had already been around for a while, but they became a staple in the closet of a 90’s kid. There were many different ways we wore these overalls, only one strap buckled with the other hanging down, both buckled and worn with a belt, or both straps unbuckled leaving the front hanging down. Which would you choose, skin tight skinny jeans or these bad boys?
THE SEE THROUGH PHONE Remember Clarissa Explain’s it all? Of course you do. Well her fashion and decorating skills were the envy of all tweens in the 90’s. One thing she had that every girl wanted...The see through phone.
